Program Overview

Your direct line to trusted guidance, support, & command‑level communication.

Every Navy command appoints at least one Ombudsman—a trained volunteer (often a Navy spouse) who serves as a confidential link between command leadership and families. Whether you’re navigating a deployment, a PCS move, or an unexpected challenge, contact the Ombudsman assigned to your command first; they can quickly steer you to the right people, programs, or crisis resources.

🛡️ Confidentiality—With Clear Boundaries

Private & Respectful: Ombudsmen do not share personal details without your permission and will tell you up front when confidentiality may need to be broken.

Mission & Safety First: If a situation threatens someone’s safety or the command’s readiness, the Ombudsman must inform the Commanding Officer (CO) or designated leadership.

🚩 Reportable Issues (Per Navy Policy)

Ombudsmen are required to alert the CO when they learn of:

1. Suspected or known child abuse or neglect

2. Alleged or suspected domestic / spouse abuse

3. Suicidal or homicidal ideation or any life‑endangering situation

4. Any additional matters the CO specifically directs them to report

Everything else you discuss stays between you and your Ombudsman.
